☕WHAT IS KOMBUCHA?
Kombucha is a lightly fizzy, fermented tea made from green or black tea, sugar, yeast and bacteria. It is believed to have originated in China about 2000 years ago. It shared the same health benefits as tea, containing antioxidants (such as polyphenols, EGCG), B vitamins with an added probiotics due to fermentation process.
☕HEALTH BENEFITS
✔️Support gut health, aid digestion and strengthen immune system
Kombucha's natural fermentation produces probiotics properties which create a more balanced gut microbiome. Probiotics can help with diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The lining of the intestines create antibodies that help protect the body, out of which about 70% of the immune system is found in the gut. Improved gut health is correlated with strong immune system.
✔️Help boost metabolism
Green tea contains epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a catechin that may boost metabolic rates in adults. However, more studies are needed to know the true effect of EGCG on metabolism.
✔️Improve cardiovascular health
Antioxidants in tea protects LDL (bad) cholesterol particles from oxidation, which is thought to contribute to heart disease.
✔️ Help manage Type 2 diabetes
Fermentation in tea produces acetic acid (therefore vinegary taste) that slows down the rate at which the stomach empties the food into small intestines. Carbohydrates will be broken down at slower rate, giving the body more time to remove glucose from the blood.
🍵STORAGE
Always keep in fridge, best consumed within 3 days after opening.
⚠️Do not violently shake the kombucha ⚠️
🍵NOTE
Fermentation process is always ongoing in a kombucha. As a result, the taste will get more sour and this is perfectly normal. You may find a strand of yeast in the drink and this is normal too (this proves that the drink is actually alive)
